Devolver Digital and Croteam have unveiled Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope at E3, showing off some gameplay in a trailer while they're at it.

Level designer Nika Dvoravic said that the game revolves around enemies moving towards the player and so the players themselves are static, moving between levels when necessary.

Croteam producer Ante Vredelja added that it "makes perfect sense to make a VR game in the Serious Sam universe" due to the amount of enemies and the mayhem the series is known for, calling it a "perfect fit".

The game will work with every headset with motion controls, with Vredelja saying that they were in talks with Sony about working with PlayStation VR as well.

When asked about why the step into VR adds something new, Dvoravic said that VR "takes you in another dimension" and that the "violence and blood all around you" reproduces the over-the-top nature of Serious Sam in a more immersive way.

A playable demo for Serious Sam VR is available at E3 and the game itself will be released on Steam Early Access this summer.
