Sennheiser has a reputation as being one of the world's foremost manufacturers of hi-fi gear and high-end headphones and the company has also entered the gaming market in recent years with some very good headsets. Earlier today, Sennheiser announced that they intend to release the PC-focused GSP 550 flagship-headset in late October. These headphones support Dolby Digital 7.1 and will cost around $250. Here's what product manager Andreas Jessen had to say:
"Thanks to its Surround Dongle, the GSP 550 makes it effortless for gamers to tailor their sound experience via Sennheiser's intuitive software to be exactly the way they want. We know that for dedicated gamers, lightning fast, intuitive controls are vital. This is why we created a streamlined user interface that, for example, lets you rapidly switch between stereo and surround sound at a touch."
