From Software's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice released last month to give fans another taste of the hardcore mechanics they had seen in Dark Souls and Bloodborne previously, but if you're interested in the narrative you'll be pleased to hear that the Comic Walker site (as brought to us in English by Anime News Network) has delivered us news of a manga spinoff.

This will launch on May 27 (presumably just in Japanese for now) and is called Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei (which translates to Sekiro Side-Story: Hanbei the Undying). As you might have guessed, this gives us a deeper look into the life of the in-game NPC, and Shin Yamamoto is behind the art for this manga, supervised by the studio.

Earlier this month From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki did say that he would like to make a more story-focused game, so perhaps we'll see more story-driven efforts from the studio in the future.

REVIEW. Written by Stefan Briesenick

"The sheer presence and power of these warriors make Sekiro's sense of play feel unique even within the confines of FromSoftware's past works."
