Sega has just announced that they have acquired the French developer Amplitude. The studio is known for games in the Endless series, with the titles Endless Space, Endless Legend, and Dungeon of the Endless.
According to Sega Europe's president and COO Jurgen Post (via GamesIndustry), this move will strengthen the company's position in the PC games market with Amplitude joining Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive and Relic Entertainment as Sega owned developers.
"To have the opportunity to add a studio with the growing reputation of Amplitude's, to the SEGA family, is an exciting one and reinforces SEGA Europe's position as a market leader in publishing high quality PC games."
"Culturally, Amplitude are a fantastic fit for the business as they not only produce great games, but also have a proven track record in listening to their fans and directly involving them in the ongoing development of their games through their GAMES2GETHER system."
This means that the publisher now has control over some huge PC strategy franchise, from Total War to Company Heroes and Dawn of War, via Football Manager and now the Endless series.
