March 6 is the date you should mark in your ship's calendar if you're a Sea of Thieves fan, as this is when the next in-game update is landing for Rare's game, bringing quality of life changes and combat tweaks with it, but a new developer diary down below reveals that there are also changes coming to the "Pioneers" testing system.

After March 6 players will be able to opt-in to Pioneers testing, and existing Pioneers should already have received an email about it. This means you can opt-in to test upcoming content like Arena early, but just as with press this content will still be under NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements) meaning players can't talk about it or broadcast content. Pioneers forums, however, will be available for players to talk about the content and provide feedback.

March 20 is another big date for Sea of Thieves fans, as that will be the game's first birthday and the time when Rare will reveal even more content coming in the future. For those who hit Pirate Legend within the first year they'll be rewarded with some goodies, but there are also other celebrations planned for the birthday.

Will you opt-in for Pioneers testing?

REVIEW. Written by Kieran Harris

"It may not be all smooth sailing, but Rare's Sea of Thieves manages to deliver a cooperative experience like nothing we've ever experienced before."
