A few months ago, we reported that the German football club Schalke 04 would in fact be selling its slot in the League of Legends European Championship to Team BDS. Well, we can now also report that the team will in fact continue to compete in LoL esports despite this sale.
Revealed in a post on Twitter, Peter Knäbel, director of sport and communication at Schalke 04 said (after translation), "We are happy to remain part of the League of Legends community and continue to play with great ambitions in The Prime League. We want to fight again for the German championship and also have a say in the EU Masters."
The team will be competing in the Prime League Pro Division, which is a European Regional League run by Riot Games, and is the exact same place that Schalke 04's academy team used to compete in, when the team still held an LEC slot.
