Ubisoft has become known for not being able to keep their upcoming games secret the last few years. Assassin's Creed III leaking in February 2012, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag leaking in February 2013, and Assassin's Creed: Unity leaking in March 2014 are just a few examples of this. Do you see some similarities between these? One is that the leaks surfaced in the first quarter. We're in late February now, so it's time to follow tradition.
Sure, 4Chan has an iffy track-record of rumours and leaks, but a new thread is true at least to some degree according to our three sources. There were rumours about the next Assassin's Creed going back to Italy, a rumour we were told was false when it initially surfaced last year. That's kind of strange, as our sources claim the Watch Dogs 3 details are true. We're told that Watch Dogs 3 will indeed be set in London, and that Ubisoft will follow their formula of letting us choose the gender of our character. The parkour system has also apparently been improved to make it easier to reach higher places.
These rumours might not come as a giant surprise for those of you who remember that Watch Dogs 2 got a new ending as part of an update three months after launch. The ending was a phone call confirming that DedSec had gone global, and some coordinates in the background pointed to London. England was never mentioned again in the game, so it seems like Ubisoft just started teasing the sequel years before it's set to launch, as we'll apparently be seeing it late this year if everything goes according to plan. Expect to learn if our sources are right or not in the next four months.
Gamereactor reached out to Ubisoft via official channels for a statement on the rumours and got the response: "We don't comment on rumours or speculation."
Do you think London suits Watch Dogs 3 or would you like to see it set somewhere else?
