According to a statement made by games industry consultant Dr. Serkan Toto, Bandai Namco could be teaming up with Nintendo to develop some new games for NX, the new platform developed by the Kyoto-based company that will be officially revealed in the coming months.
Although Dr. Toto didn't go into too much detail, it seems that one of the games Bandai Namco will develop for NX is a game in the Smash Bros. series, which, apparently, will also be one of the launch titles for Nintendo's next console. As Tweeted by the good doctor: "Bandai Namco is currently developing several NX titles. Smash Bros is planned to be a launch title. I am not sure about the date - yet ;)."
The informant also reported that he's not completely sure if it will be a brand new game in the main series or just a remaster, but: "Otherwise, source situation is solid".
Until now, we haven't had a lot of information regarding NX. Nintendo continues to maintain a level of secrecy around the project and the information we have on the platform so far mostly consists of rumours and hearsay.
