Rockstar being sued over likeness in GTA: Vice City

Psychic Readers Network no doubt already know they've no chance of winning.

Rockstar likes to poke fun, and the Grand Theft Auto series has long been used as a vehicle for the studio to satirise American culture. Some people, particularly those that seem to be on the receiving end of the parody, don't take kindly to their alleged inclusion, most notably Lindsey Lohan, who continues to challenge what she claims is the use of her likeness in Grand Theft Auto V (the case was thrown out of court, although she is appealing that decision).

Now another legal challenge has materialised, this time from Psychic Readers Network, an organisation that holds the rights to Miss Cleo, the psychic character that some might say has one or two things in common with an NPC in Vice City called Auntie Poulet.

According to TMZ, PRN's claim that Rockstar has made more than $500 million exploiting Miss Cleo's likeness, even going so far as to recruit Youree Harris (the actor who played the character) to voice Auntie Poulet.

"These claims are entirely meritless and completely ridiculous. We will vigorously defend ourselves with regard to this matter," Rockstar said in response to the challenge.

With Grand Theft Auto: Vice City launching fifteen years ago, one has to ask why this legal challenge wasn't made earlier. Psychic Readers Network reckons that the claim is still valid as Rockstar continues to make money from the game even after all these years. We're not convinced.

Given the lack of success enjoyed by others taking shots at Rockstar in recent years (they must have some seriously capable lawyers on retainer), and given all of the no doubt genuine psychic powers channelled by the folks over at PRN, surely they've already got a good idea that the claim will be thrown out of court.
