Today we received news from The Esports Observer that Rocket League's esports circuit is set to undergo some major changes. The details were confirmed through an email to Championship Series teams from publisher Psyonix. The planned changes follow shortly after 13 teams signed a letter complaining about the handling of the competition.

The tournament is said to now move to an 'open structure' and will see three splits per season and three regional events per split. Six regional events across Europe and North America have been confirmed and this will be followed by one major international split and a world championship.

Participating teams will earn points for events, which will contribute towards qualifying for the international majors. Those with the most points will progress to the world championship.
