Resident Evil Requiem almost cracks 350,000 concurrent players on Steam over launch weekend

To say that interest has been high for the return of Capcom's horror series is perhaps an understatement.

We all expected Resident Evil Requiem to perform well, especially following the reveal of its critical reception where the game has been regarded as one of the best of 2026 so far, including by us. But the reception it has received by fans and consumers is much higher than anyone would have anticipated.

Over the launch weekend, Resident Evil Requiem hit a concurrent player peak on Steam of 344,214, which is the highest the series has ever achieved by a very, very wide margin. For reference, the next best performing game in the series on Valve's platform is the recent remake of Resident Evil 4, which topped out at 168,191 players at one moment.

We haven't yet received any sales information from Capcom yet, aside from the game being a huge hit physically in the UK, but all of the data seems to show that Requiem is performing much better than anyone would have expected and that Resident Evil is still immensely relevant despite celebrating its 30th anniversary this March.
