With The Game Awards right around the corner, the rumours regarding who the fifth DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be have started heating up. One of the most popular theories has been that someone from the Resident Evil franchise will be the next addition to be shown off on December 12/13. Nintendo might just have crushed those hopes though.

This is because of the fact that Nintendo of America has revealed that we're getting a new Resident Evil themed Spirit event in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Friday. This will make Chris, Leon, Wesker, and Jill from the beloved series appear on the Spirit Board for five days.

A very cool thing in and of itself, but it pretty much also crushes any hope of seeing a playable Resident Evil character in the game anytime soon as Nintendo has mostly used Spirits to represent characters and franchises it doesn't hold as worthy enough to be a part of the main roster. Still, we got a feeling that you won't have to wait long to see who the fifth character actually is, so keep those theories and dreams coming in the comments below.
