In the UK Resident Evil 2 has had a great opening week by topping the physical sales charts, and it seems that it's proved popular elsewhere too, as Capcom has revealed that the company has shipped 3 million copies of the horror remake as of yesterday.
The 1998 original achieved sales of 4.96 million units, making it the fourth best-selling title in the franchise, and even the 1-Shot Demo for this new game proved popular, racking up 4.7 million downloads. We also find out that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has reached a cumulative figure of 6 million units sold (as of December 31) since release in January 2017, with Capcom clarifying they're aiming for similar long-term sales with this recent release too.
With the content offering for Resident Evil 2 getting bolstered by free DLC in February and Devil May Cry 5 releasing on March 8, it looks like Capcom's good fortunes may continue over the next few months.
