Reports indicate Black Ops 4 may not have a campaign
"Forget what you know."
A lot of people don't touch the single-player campaigns on Call of Duty games, heading instead straight for the multiplayer, but Sledgehammer Games did something different, as Call of Duty: WWII introduced a mix between online multiplayer co-op and storytelling with the new Warfare mode.
Now it may be the case that the next entry, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, won't have any campaign at all, according to anonymous sources cited by Polygon. Treyarch, the studio with a background of good stories in past entries, will focus instead on multiplayer and Zombie modes, according to the report, which also says there will some kind of co-op mode as a sort of replacement for the campaign.
"Forget what you know" is the new slogan, Polygon says, and they think that there is more than a fascination with mind control, but also a message to the players to accommodate the new era.
Would you be upset if there was no campaign?
