Update: Ubisoft has now released a statement and the Six Invitational will now be delayed. No date as to when the tournament will take place has been provided as of yet.
According to a recent report, the Rainbow Six: Siege Six Invitational 2021 is set to be either cancelled or delayed. The report by Globoesporte (confirmed by Dotesports) suggests that Ubisoft is suspending the live event that was previously set to be held in-person in Paris, France.
This comes after the French Government announced it would be closing the country's borders to those outside of the European Union, to help combat the spread of Covid-19. With the Six Invitational featuring multiple teams from across the world, this would directly hinder their ability to compete at the event, which is still currently slated to take place next week, starting February 9.
No official statement about this decision has been provided by Ubisoft as of yet, but considering the logistical nightmare it now faces, this is seemingly becoming a more and more realistic situation.
