Report: Red Dead Redemption is getting a remake

Plus a new alleged leak has suggested that last year's sequel is getting an alien-themed expansion.

Salt shakers at the ready because we've got a couple of cracking Red Dead rumours for you today, with the latest anonymous report to emerge from someone who knows someone at Rockstar suggesting that last year's GOTY, Red Dead Redemption 2, will be getting an alien-themed DLC in Q1, 2020.

Just as interesting as the idea that Rockstar is working on some sort of homage to cinematic powerhouse Cowboys & Aliens is the suggestion that the studio is working on a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption to coincide with that game's tenth anniversary next year, although the post suggests that a 2020 launch is looking iffy after some technical issues held back development.

Apparently, the remake would expand on the map of the original, with gameplay mechanics from RDR2 implemented to make the game feel more modern. It's also suggested that Rob Wiethoff, who voiced John Marston, has returned to the studio to record some more lines, updating certain parts of the game to take the events of Red Dead Redemption 2 into account.

With regards to the aforementioned RDR2 rumour, details are a little thinner beyond the suggestion that we'll be taking control of Arthur once again in the expansion. Those who've played the game extensively will know that there's an in-game UFO-themed Easter egg that could well be applied to this rumour, but otherwise there's nothing other than circumstantial evidence in this alleged leak on Reddit. Make of that what you will.
