If you don't want to fight against players with a mouse and keyboard then you won't have to anymore, as revealed in a developer update.

Late last year, Rare announced the new addition of Arena to Sea of Thieves, a competitive PvP mode where you'll compete for valuables with other crews on the seven seas. Since mouse and keyboard is generally considered to offer an advantage in first-person games, Rare has decided to offer the possibility to turn off cross-play and force Xbox One gamers who use this feature (Xbox One supports mouse and keyboard) to the cross-play pool.

That means all pirates you'll meet with cross-play turned off on Xbox One are playing with a controller. Sea of Thieves is one of the game where mouse and keyboard isn't necessarily that much stronger, but we appreciate being given the choice at least.

All this was announced in a developer update video that was released late yesterday, which you can check out below, with the part about cross-play starting about 90 seconds in. Do you think this is something all games should have?

REVIEW. Written by Kieran Harris

"It may not be all smooth sailing, but Rare's Sea of Thieves manages to deliver a cooperative experience like nothing we've ever experienced before."
