Sony's PlayStation VR headset is expected to have sold around 800,000 units by the time 2016 draws to a close, according to market research and analysis firm Canalys (via Power up gaming), and this figure is way ahead of the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Canalys' December report estimates that the HTC Vive will hit 500,000 by the year end, with the Oculus Rift predicted to sell 400,000, and one of the reasons for HTC Vive's better sales is estimated to be the reduction in headset price in the Black Friday discount.
The analysts at Canalys also claim that PSVR would have sold more if they had focused more on marketing, which they didn't because of shortages brought about by issues manufacturing the OLED displays.
Do you think the price has anything to do with the difference in figures?
