There is an open battle raging between Sony and Microsoft in the UK console market. The latter claimed the first position last week thanks to the successful launch of new Xbox One S models, but the former has retaken the lead this week.

Let's put it in numbers, at least in percentages since GfK-Charts-Track doesn't serve up unit numbers. Xbox One family sales rose almost 1000% during a strong first week supported by Forza Horizon 3 and FIFA 17 launch too. But the week ending Saturday 1st, the PS4 family overtook the lead again.

The main hardware wasn't the new PS4 model as you would expect. Xbox One S beat it again, by 24%, says MCV UK. Instead the leading console was the old PS4 model, bundled with anything that could sell it to leave free space in store shelves in time for the holidays (and PS4 Pro no doubt). Some retailers such as Tesco, Game or ShopTo offered the hardware plus a copy of FIFA 17 or LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens for as little as £149.

The PlayStation 4 family sales grew 380% and gave sony 57% of the console market. On the other side, the Xbox One family fell 16%, not considering the massive bump the week prior and enough to secure a 37% of the customers. So, there is just 6% left for Nintendo.
