Niantic and The Pokémon Company have some good news for fans of Pokémon Go, as they've revealed alongside the City of Dortmund more details about the Pokémon Go Fest in the German city, running from July 4 to 7 at the Westfalen Park.
The Pokémon Go Safari Zone event in Dortmund was a success last year, hosting 170,000 players, and you can register for the chance to buy tickets via a new ticketing system in the app. The event will host four unique habitats themed in the style of Pokémon Go, these being physical installations, and there are in-game activities and real-world experiences to enjoy, like group photos, a Pikachu costume character meet and greet, and more.
If you're not there in person you'll still be able to take part in challenges to work towards a global goal, which of course grant rewards. Details for these global challenges, however, are coming ahead of the event at a later date.
Anne Beuttenmüller, Head of EMEA Marketing at Niantic, stated: "The City of Dortmund has been an incredible partner in bringing a second Pokémon GO real-world community event to their city and Westfalenpark, one of Europe's most beautiful parks. Pokémon GO Fest Dortmund will give thousands of Trainers around the world an opportunity to explore this unique city, get exercise in the real world, meet and befriend fellow Trainers and more importantly, catch Pokémon together.
Thomas Westphal, CEO of Dortmund's economic development agency, added: "We are delighted to have been selected for the second time in a row as the Pokémon GO destination to be in Europe during this summer. After last year's success, we are very much looking forward to continuing our partnership with Niantic and to host thousands of people from all over the world in Westfalenpark and the city of Dortmund again."
