The launch of Yooka-Laylee is looming large, and so we recently spoke to Playtonic's Andy Robinson about the nostalgia-inducing platformer and how it's coming together ahead of its release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 11.

Originally there were also plans to release the game on Wii U, but Playtonic cancelled that version and is now looking to release it on Nintendo's new console, the Switch, instead. We asked Robinson when the game might make it to the console-handheld hybrid during our interview, and this is what he had to say:

"It's a bit too early to go into specifics with this version, but rest assured we're working directly with Nintendo to get it out as soon as possible for our many fans and Kickstarter backers on that platform. We're big Nintendo fans here, so it's very exciting to be working on Nintendo Switch."

So there you have it, there's still no official word, but Playtonic are working with Nintendo to get the game on Switch "as soon as possible". As soon as we have a firm date, of course we'll let you know here on Gamereactor.
