PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds breaks new ground on Steam

Only DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive had more concurrent players.

It's only been two weeks since we learned that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds had more concurrent players than GTA V on Steam, thereby moving it up to fourth place on the list. Back then, we said that it might overtake Fallout 4 some time in the future, but didn't expect it to happen this fast.

Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene has revealed that PUBG hit 481,219 peak concurrent players this month, surpassing Fallout 4's 471,955 from its launch in November 2015. This isn't just impressive because it means that the number has increased by almost 100,000 in two weeks, but also that it makes it the game with the highest peak player count of any non-Valve game.

The Early Access game is still the top-selling game on Valve's digital distribution platform, so could it potentially outperform Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as well? It still has some ways to go...
