Xcom's creator, Julian Gollop, has announced that his current studio - Snapshot Games - has reached the funding target set for their new project, Phoenix Point. The funding campaign was hosted by Fig, and it didn't take long to attract the $500,000 asked for by the devs.

Following this initial success, the studio announced two new goals that they'd like to reach before June 8, when the campaign ends. At $600,000, vehicles will be added, and at $850,000 we'll get a flying fortress.

Phoenix Point is scheduled to land in the fourth quarter of 2018. Anyone making a contribution of at least $30 will be rewarded with a digital copy of the game, which has been described as the spiritual successor to Xcom.

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"We can forgive a few cut corners and some scaled back elements given budgetary constraints, but it's clear that the game needs a bit more spit and polish if it's going to really sparkle."
