The world's most quoted gaming analyst Michael Pachter, who's accuracy in predicting stuff can be questioned at times, has weighed in on a few subjects at London Games Conference. Predictably he still feels the Wii U is doomed.
"I think the Wii U is toast - it's a DS that's split into two"
Yeah, we're not quite sure what you mean by that, Pachter.
"We think 30 million is where it is set. If you are a Nintendo fan bitching about my opinion on Wii U, stop, put your money where your mouth is and buy a Wii U."
Given the number of units Nintendo have sold so far 30 million sounds pretty optimistic to us and we're sure Nintendo would be fairly pleased with that at this point.
But Wii U wasn't the only console to get blasted:
"Consoles may not be relevant in 10 years. We have expanded the market beyond the hardcore console owner. We now have ten times the audience over the internet, six times the audience over mobile."
Of course, with the introduction of Steam Machines the line between console and PC is getting blurred, and in ten years our tablets are most likely more powerful than anything we play games on today. But hey, Pachter made yet another headline saying something. Good for him.
