Anyone who's played Planetside 2 so far will no that it's a demanding game, and puts strain on even capable gaming rigs. In an effort to make the game accessible on a larger range of PCs, Sony Online Entertainment are bringing in a series of optimisation patches design to improve performance across the board.
In Phase 1 of Operation: Make Faster Game (OMFG) SOE have optimised the UI, physics, sound, player processing, rendering code and more, with the aim of improving frame rates by more than 30 per cent. Phase 2 will focus on engineering improvements to the visibility and physics systems. For more details on Phase 1 you can head this way.
