WoW 3.0.1 downloading now...surprise!

Next week will see the release of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, with head start on Sunday. And, surprise! Blizzard just announced that the next big patch for World of Warcraft will start downloading very soon through the background downloader, and look at that - it has already begun. No patch notes yet what I can see, but this patch will bring a lot of changes - including the Stormwind harbor, new talents, inscription and other goodies.

The official forums are, at the time of me writing this, undergoing some form of update as well. Could a release date for Wrath of the Lich King be looming at the horizon? It's still about a month to go to Blizzcon, which I was sure that Blizzard would wait for before telling us the exact release date. Who knows, I might be wrong?

Then again, just because the background downloader is active doesn't mean that the patch will go live very quickly. But I wouldn't be surprised if things started to unfold very, very soon after September 18...
