The first picture of Valve's incoming answer to next-gen consoles, Steam Machines, has surfaced. As you can see from the image at the bottom of the page (which first appeared, alongside with a hands-on report, on The Verge), it's an elegant looking machine, not all that dissimilar to Microsoft's Xbox One.
The report also details how Valve are building the machines, with parts assembled in such a way that they won't share any airspace within the unit. The new living room PC has also been designed so that components will be easily interchangeable, meaning that unlike closed systems such as Xbox One and PS4, once technology has moved on, it'll be easy to upgrade and stay with the times.
The unit itself is just a prototype, and has been built to showcase the future possibilities for Steam Machines. At the end of the day it'll be down to Valve's partners to assemble and sell the hardware that could well end up in homes across the globe, so don't expect them to look anything like this by the time they come to market.
