More than one million gamers have now signed up for RuneScape Old School, a 2007 version of the MMO. According to developers Jagex, 450,000 players voted for Old School, and it was subsequently introduced in February. The studio have also opened up key decisions to the community, who now vote on decisions regarding updates and the like.
The most recent update comes in the form of the God Wars Dungeon, which will feature four new bosses (K'ril Tsutsaroth, Commander Zilyana, General Graardor and Kree'arra), and give players an opportunity to earn the Godsword, (which is described as the most powerful weapon in Old School). New high level melee and range armours as well as high level weapons (the Staff of the Dead and the Armadyl Crossbow) have also been thrown into the mix.
"Seeing RuneScape Old School hit the million player mark so soon after launch is a great milestone for the game and our players have joined the celebration by voting for the game's most epic update to date," said Jagex's Phil Mansell.
"Players will need to be steadfast and defiant in order to win through and defeat the gods, but if successful, players will be rewarded beyond their wildest imagination. It is the ultimate game of seeking treasure or die trying - something RuneScape has grown famous for."
