Word on the street is that Alien: Isolation is going to be a new shooter with stealth elements, with development being handled by Creative Assembly (of Total War fame). While the news that CA are working on on an Alien game isn't new, the fact that it's a first-person title certainly is.
According to Kotaku the game is inspired by titles such as Dishonored and Bioshock, with their anonymous source claiming it'll be heading to both current and next-gen consoles in 2014. Another interesting claim is that the game will focus on Amanda Ripley.
Apparently Ripley, daughter to Ellen (played by Sigourney Weaver in the movies), will spend most if not all of the game on a space station fighting with "clones and soldiers", and for most of the game there'll be just one alien to contend with. "Vents, lockers and melee weapons are a big part of Isolation" according to Kotaku and their source, who also says the first Alien film is a big inspiration.
The fact the Alien: Isolation was recently trademarked (and then spotted by Siliconera), suggests that something concrete is incoming. We do know that an Alien title has been in development for some time. Whether they're one and the same remains to be seen, but it's looking increasingly likely.
Given Sega's recent troubles with the IP (Aliens: Colonial Marines), here's hoping Creative Assembly can come up with something worthy of the brand. According to the source, the game was originally going to be announced at this year's E3, but has already been held back as Sega aims to avoid repeating past mistakes.
