Nintendo has just revealed that as of December 2020, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 79.87 million units. These updated figures put the hybrid console ahead of the 3DS (75.94 million units), and it's easily on track to catch up the Xbox 360 (84 million units). As Vulture Beat reports, the Switch is also now Nintendo's second fastest selling console ever only behind the Nintendo DS, which was able to sell 83 million units during the same 46 month period.

Along with the updated console sales, we also received some updated sales figures on first-party software. Within the last quarter ending December 2020, three Nintendo Switch games were able to surpass the milestone of one million and these were Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (3.5 million), Pikmin 3 Deluxe (1.94 million), and Mario Kart: Home Circuit (1.08 million).

So yeah, with it now being on the market for four year and with no Switch Pro currently in sight, the console is still managing to dominate in terms of sales. Are you surprised at all by these figures?

Thanks, VentureBeat.
