Jagex (Runescape) has today released Ace of Spades: Battle Builder, a new add-on that allows up to 24-players to work together to create their own maps for the shooter, and then share them via the Steam Workshop.

There are nine templates that form the basis of the maps (including urban, lunar, grassland and temple), and hundreds of prefabricated objects to populate them with.

"The release of Ace of Spades: Battle Builder is huge step forward in the evolution of this unique game," explained Ace of Spade's producer, David Cobb.

"The Map Creator offers long-awaited functionality that massively enhances player collaboration, while combat in the game has been refined and further balanced. Jagex has listened to the game's player community and kept Ace of Spades: Battle Builder true to its roots to ensure it delivers engaging and fun action."

Those who have already purchased Ace of Spades will receive the content for free, those who are interested in picking up the game now that this long-overdue map editor is included, can pick it up on Steam for £9.99.
