According to 1UP Sony Online Entertainment's Everquest II is set to go completely free-to-play this December. The model will let anyone play the game for free and advance up to the level cap, but in order to gain access to all weapons and races you will need premium accounts (silver and gold available).
For one year a free-to-play version of Everquest II, called Everquest II: Extended has been available, but now it seems SOE are completely abandoning their previous business model. Remains to be seen if it is enough to attract new players into a game that saw release seven years ago.
