The downward trend for World of Warcraft subscriptions continues, and in September the number of paying players was down to 10.3 million compared to 12 million in October last year.

This was revealed by Blizzard's Mike Morhaime at a presentation yesterday according to Seeking Alpha.

"I guess I can say this: the majority of the declines were in the East," said Morhaime.

"China still represents more than half of our global player base and, historically, December has been a very good month for subscriber trends."

At any rate, ten million players is a rather good number any way you turn it.
