Silicon Knights, a celebrated developer responsible for titles such as Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on Gamecube, and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain on Playstation, have let go all but 25 people at the studio according to a 1UP report, during the summer the developer was known to employ 97 people and with government funding they were looking to add an additional 80 people to the staff. However, as Silicon Knights' latest game, X-Men: Destiny, was released they let 15 people go and now an even greater amount of staff have been released.

Silicon Knights' troubles really began with the often delayed and ultimately disappointing Too Human that saw release on Xbox 360 in 2008. It remains to be seen if the developer can bounce back from these circumstances, but things are looking rather gloomy for the Eternal Darkness developer.

Silicon Knights were banking on X-Men: Destiny being a success, which proved not to be the case.
