It's that time of the year when financial reports start hitting. Microsoft are coming off their strongest quarter ever with profits reaching $7.2 billion for the quarter.
Obviously, games is just a small part of that. 2.3 million new consoles have been sold during the quarter, compared to 2.8 million for the same period in 2010. It should be noted that those sales were helped by the introduction of the slim model and the launch of Halo: Reach. The Entertainment and Devices Division, which hosts Xbox 360 and Windows Phone 7, posted a profit of $352 million. And in total 57.6 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold worldwide since it's introduction almost six years ago.
