Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have confirmed that PS Vita will launch in Europe on February 22 next year. In fact it will launch across the entire PAL territory at that date including Australia, the Middle East, and Africa.

"PlayStation Vita is an incredible device that offers the best possible portable gaming experiences. Its revolutionary mix of features combined with social connectivity, delivers a platform for gamers to play games in a whole new way and to connect with their friends and the world around them" said Jim Ryan, President and CEO, SCEE. "We're very excited to launch a portable gaming device that goes beyond anything available on the market and is positioned to deliver the uncompromised gaming experiences consumers have been asking for."

The PS Vita will be available in two models at launch, the wi-fi only model that retails at €229.99 (RRP) and the 3G model that will be available for €279.99 (RRP).

While there was no mention of games that might make it out for launch, SCEE did confirm that over 80 titles are currently in production for the device with the press release highlighting Little Big Planet, Wipeout 2048, Resistance: Burning Skies, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, as well as titles in the Assassin's Creed, FIFA and Call of Duty franchises.
