It's been over a month since the launch of Runescape 3, and to celebrate Jagex has released some interesting statistics. For example, over 300,000 new players joined up in that first month, and 100,000 former players have re-activated their accounts.
These players, both new and existing, have notched up an impressive 600,000 hours of play a day. That's 68 years of gameplay per 24 hours (they did maths, not me).
Runescape 3 launched on July 22, kicked off as it was by the Battle of Lumbridge, a two month event focussed on two returning gods where players had to pick a side. Executive producer Phil Mansell explained: "With the Battle of Lumbridge we were looking to give the players a new way to interact with RuneScape and place their mark on the world."
He continued: "We've seen over a 150 million votes cast on how the battle campaign should be fought, with players making decision on everything from what kind of reinforcements they get to how they can support their chosen god with buffs and new units. Players have so many ways to affect the current battle, from killing enemies or donating resources to their chosen deity, and it is this player driven dynamic which puts the future of the game very firmly in the players' hands."
If you're not one of the 220 million players who have already signed up to RuneScape, you can do so here.
