Nintendo aren't shy to bring out new models of their popular formats, but this may be their strangest offering to date introducing the Nintendo 2DS. Yes, that's right a new model of Nintendo 3DS that does not feature the innovative 3D screen. It also does away with the firmly established foldable design that has been standard for all portable Nintendo devices since the launch of the original Nintendo DS. It's got a slight tilt, but it raises questions on how you will avoid scratches on the screens (you can always buy a case we suppose).

The new device is being positioned as a point of entry for newcomers to the Nintendo experience and launches October 12 alongside Pokémon X + Y at $129.99 stateside - and we should expect the UK price to come in lower than what the standard Nintendo 3DS goes for today.
