Good news for all gamers who likes to import their own games. Shuhei Yoshida, leader of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide has taken to Twitter to announce that PlayStation Vita will indeed be region-free. In other words, you will be able to import and play games from both USA and Japan even though you live in Europe and own a European-machine.
Yoshida does warn that this is not something he would necessarily recommend anyone doing, citing small changes in controls tuned towards the Japanese market, which might not necessarily be in tune with what European and American customers expect.
