Solid State Networks have been working together with Funcom for a while now, helping the norwegian company to distribute the beta of Age of Conan and the Anarchy Online client. Today they released a joint press release stating that they will work even closer in the future "to incorporate Solid State's technology in a manner that addresses challenges associated with taking the online game experience to new audiences on a variety of platforms" and thus being able to distribute future Funcom games completely digitally.
Funcom will need help with this, seeing how huge the Age of Conan client is. It's disturbingly big, even. But of more interest is how it will be used for coming expansions for Age of Conan, brand new MMOs like their upcoming The Secret World and such mysterious titles as Dreamfall Chapters (whatever that turns out to be - Ragnar Törnqvist, give me a call and we'll talk...). And where does Eidos fit into all of this?
