Rumours are circulating that Amazon, the online retailer, is planning on making a move into the console arena with a new Android-based gaming machine.
According to sources close to GameInformer, the new console is planned to be released around the end of the year, likely by Black Friday.
The reports suggests that Amazon will utilise the titles already available on its platform, and it will have its own dedicated controller. There's already a sizeable collection of Android titles available, and given Amazon's position in the market, this rumour certainly sounds plausible.
There's already announced consoles, like Ouya and Gamestick, that are aiming at this particular niche in the market. If these reports prove to be true, these indie consoles could be in for a tough time of it if Amazon's rumoured machine makes it to market.
