When Precursor Games first launched a crowdfunding campaign for Shadow of the Eternals things did not go according to plan. The proposed episodic adventure was asking for $1.5 million and that really only guaranteed players that the pilot (a couple of hours worth of gameplay) would ever be produced. Secondly, controversy over Precursor Games' past with Silicon Knights also contributed to the campaign stalling after a decent start.

Now, Precursor Games are back and it's a slightly different proposition this time around. First of all, it's now an action-adventure spanning 8-10 hours of gameplay. Secondly, after securing external funding the company is now only asking for $750,000. Thirdly, it will star the original Solid Snake - David Hayter - as the main character Paul Becker.

The spiritual successor of Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is being developed for PC and Wii U, but as Precursor Games is now a licensed PS4 developer one of the stretch goals of the campaign is a PS4 port.

Here is an updated list of bullet points of what Shadows of the Eternals is:

- A single-player third-person action/adventure game with horror elements.
- An 8-10 hour complete experience.
- Multiple playable characters throughout different time periods of history.
- Sanity events - special graphical, audio, and controller effects - will challenge your senses and your mind, causing you to question what is real.
- Developed in collaboration with the community via an exclusive area on our forums.
- Developed with CryENGINE 3 for PC (Windows) and Wii U.
- Available via a DRM-free distribution method (for PC).
