Record Gamescom attendance

275,000 people visited Koelnmesse.

Gamescom in Cologne this past week was a resounding success bringing in a record high 275,000 visitors in four public day (Thu-Sun) and one trade only day (Wed).

"In a word: overwhelming!" said Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH, in summary. "We grew further, attaining level of results over that of last year, both on the exhibitor and on the visitor side. By regulating the admission, we were able to ensure that there was never any overcrowding in the hall, and the safety of the games community was therefore guaranteed," continued Böse.

Gamescom 2011 in numbers:

"A total of 557 companies from 39 countries (2010: 505/33) took part in gamescom 2011 on a gross surface of over 120,000 square meters. 257 exhibitors and 18 additionally represented companies came from Germany, 279 exhibitors and 3 additionally represented companies from abroad. More than 5,000 media representatives from more than 50 countries (2010: 4400/49) were accredited. Estimates for the final day of the trade fair included, altogether 275,000 visitors (+8 percent, 2010: 254,000) - of these 21,400 professional attendees (+13 percent, 2010: 18,900) from more than 70 countries - took part in gamescom 2011."

Gamescom 2012 is once again set to take place in Cologne and Koelnmesse and will be held August 15-19, 2012.
