While Ryse: Son of Rome showed off impressive graphics at E3 in June, it also got some criticism for what was perceived as an overly simplistic combat system and its overall scripted feel.
In an interview with Siliconera producer Michael Read goes on to explain how the demo that was shown and playable during E3 may not be fully representative of the game that will launch alongside Xbox One this fall.
The studio have now balanced and finished the combat system to where it shares similarities with Batman: Arkham City and Sleeping Dogs, and special moves or executions will be more difficult to pull off.
"It was such a small core bit of what we were showing in the gameplay itself, and you know, maybe we should have shown more. Maybe we should have done a hands off piece and gone into a lot more detail."
