Jim Walls was a former California Highway Patrol officer when he was approached by Sierra On-Line's Ken Williams about creating a realistic ploice adventure. Police Quest was first released in 1987, a massive success that spawned multiple sequels. Right now the rights lie with Activision and they have no plans to continue the Police Quest/SWAT, but that doesn't stop Walls from proposing what appears to be a spiritual successor on Kickstarter.

"Precinct takes players on a police adventure as officer Maxwell Jones in the corrupt town of Fraser Canyon, CA. Starting out as a rookie and then moving up the ranks, players face adrenaline charged scenarios and conduct real police procedures while solving crimes and arresting perpetrators."

Launched today the campaign is just getting rolling with $10,000 of the asked for $500,000 pledged right now. For a pledge of $30 you'll receive a digital copy of the game, a digital soundtrack, and wallpapers.
