Xbox 360 dead in Japan?

Retailers are starting to give up.

It seems like Japanese retailers are getting quite fed up with the slow sales of Xbox 360. The machine has sold 1,5 million units in the country, compared to around 55 million worldwide (with Playstation 3 selling 6,5 million in Japan and 51,8 million worldwide). According to Edge, chains such as Geo and Yamada Denki are either scaling down or removing the console completely from their stock.

The Japanese market has always been a hard nut for Microsoft to crack, and with even less shelf space it's not getting any easier. Takashi Sensui, who is in charge of Xbox 360 in Japan, will probably have a hard time ahead of him...
