Reports are coming in (from Gamasutra, Joystiq) that Capcom are reorganising their US set up with several layoffs as a result. This includes high-profile names like Christian Svensson, Senior Vice President of Planning and Business Development, who went on social media to discuss his departure, saying he had a number of interesting options, but that he was looking for help to find former colleagues new work.

A statement from Capcom reads as follows:

"Capcom today laid off several employees from the US office as part of an overall organizational restructure of the company. The transition to the new generation of hardware and changing industry landscape have required us to adapt our business to best meet our new goals. We sincerely thank each individual for their contributions and wish them well."

One interpretations of this is that the Japanese publisher is looking to control more of its operation from Japan.
