Polygon reports from Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference 2013 that Carl Ledbetter, Xbox creative director, has shown off some off the rejected designs of Xbox One.
"We wanted to make it simple and elegant, and we wanted it to be crafted and tailored, so it's all about quality. Using those principles, we started to design," explained Ledbetter.
A team of around 30 individuals draw sketches and these were in turn passed on to be made into prototypes. After this they were placed in real world livingroom to see how they would fit in, and finally they were passed on to the engineers who knew if they could make the components fit.
Ledbetter also revealed they went through over 200 prototypes of the Xbox One controller.
"We found that, when people put these in their hands, could tell the difference between a 10th of a millimeter in size."
