YouTuber Felix 'Pewdiepie' Kjellberg has announced in his newest video that he's going to be taking some time away from the platform in 2020, following a year in which he's been on the receiving end of a fair few controversies once again.

"I think now is a great time as any to announce I have a special announcement to make. I am taking break from YouTube next year, because I made up my mind," he says.

"I'm tired. I'm feeling very tired. I don't know if you can tell. Just so you know, early next year I'll be a way for a little while. I'll explain that later but I wanted to give a heads up."

Earlier this year he received criticism for withdrawing a $50,000 USD pledge to Anti-Defamation League, an organisation that fights antisemitism, saying he didn't know much about the charity when he made the initial announcement.

Pewdiepie has been one of the most prevalent creators on YouTube, with very few breaks in his years active on the platform. He's produced daily videos regularly, although he's the latest in a long list of content creators to talk about burnout when it comes to YouTube.

Is this the right decision?

Thanks, VG247.
