China's gaming regulations are known for being exceptionally strict, and the South China Morning Post reports that an unnamed company has been fined 700,000 yuan (equivalent to roughly £74,890 or around $100,000 USD) for launching a game without approval from the government.

The Chinese government regulates content, including what appears on the internet (YouTuber Felix 'Pewdiepie' Kjellberg was banned earlier this year), and this is the first time China has taken action like this since reforming the regulatory body for games.

The fine is seven times the company's revenue from the title, as you can read here, which is in line with the Chinese laws that say companies can be fined between five and 10 times their revenue if they operate without a license.

Last month we reported that the Chinese government had cracked down on gaming addiction in youths as well, with curfews in place for minors and monetary restrictions enforced on online titles.

Will these fines work?
